At the Westbury Innovation Centre in Quebec, our researchers are pushing the boundaries of gasification.

From laboratory characterization to our gasification pilot facility, we test new feedstocks under real-world conditions to validate every step of the process from waste to molecule.

We offer a wide range of end products including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable natural gas (RNG), dimethyl ether (DME), ethanol, olefins, and paraffins.

Award-winning performance advancing the future of aviation fuels

The work carried out at Enerkem’s Innovation Centre led to our winning Natural Resources Canada’s Sky’s the Limit Challenge. Through the efforts of our teams, we successfully produced sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from forest biomass, achieving a 93% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared with the fossil fuel it replaces.This breakthrough represents a major step forward in the decarburization of the aviation sector.
